Vivekanandha Memorial
SWAMI VIVEKANANDA MEMORIAL:
The magnificent orange Swami Vivekananda Memorial features an aquarium with a wide variety of marine life on display as well as an explanatory center/museum. Are you curious about Swami Vivekanada's relationship to this seaside city? The connection between Swami Vivekananda and Rameshwaram began when he arrived here in 1893 while on a padayatra. After travelling to the USA for four years to give his historic address to the world about India's magnificence, he returned to this location. A six-foot statue of Swami Vivekananda and King Baskara Sethupathi of Ramanathapuram, who had funded his trip to Chicago, is housed at the memorial.
The fact that this is on the shore and you can view the gorgeous ocean from the museum is its best feature. If you're lucky, you might also see a lot of fishing boats. A life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda, a picture exhibit chronicling his life narrative, and a meditation hall are all features of the memorial close to the Gulf of Mannar. Huge posters cover both walls, and the exhibition highlights Swamiji's life and offers advice on how to live a beautiful life of your own. The tranquilly of this place is a little weird, yet those are the precise phrases that are written on the walls. Even the top level allows you to observe the boundless horizon of the sea. Maybe the setting truly gives Swami Vivekananda words more significance.
