Nambu Nayagi amman temple

Here are some key points about the history and special features of the Nambu Nayagi amman temple:

The Nambu Nayaki Amman Temple's past:

It is thought that many years ago, Mother Parvadhavardini appeared before and blessed two sages by the names of Dakshina Duruvan and Pachima Duruvan. They are said to have undertaken great penance close to the Nambu Nayaki Temple. From that point on, the sages remained in the location and started tending to the sick. It is still thought that the souls of the two rishis are assisting individuals who come to Nambu Nayaki Amman seeking healing.

Another amazing story was King Sulodharan, who fell ill and arrived at the temple, relying on Mother Nambu's grace. Unwavering in his belief, the king erected a hut in the vicinity, persisted in his prayers, and had a bath in the holy Theertham.

The King was treated by Mother after she answered his prayers, and in return, he constructed a temple to honour the Goddess and offered amenities for others seeking healing from illness at the temple. The common saying "Nambunayakiyai Vananginal Vambu illai" (which roughly translates to "There will be no suffering if you worship Nambu Nayaki") originated from these instances.
The temple is located along the path that leads from Rameshwaram to Dhanushkodi.
