Apj Abdl kalam Memorial

Here are some key points about the history and special features of the Apj Abdl kalam Memorial:

Memorial of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam:

Located in his hometown of Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India, the "Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam National Memorial" is a mausoleum dedicated to honouring A. P. J. Abdul Kalam (1931–2015), the eleventh President of India (2002–2007). The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) created the memorial in honour of Kalam and to showcase India's ethnic diversity and cultural legacy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave it an official opening in July 2017. The memorial, a representation of national unity, combines Indian and Mughal architectural styles.

Context:

At the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, Kalam gave a speech titled "Creating a Livable Planet Earth" before passing away on July 27, 2015. The four thousand word lecture was never meant to happen. After just the first two sentences, Kalam passed away, and a hospital later determined that he had died from a sudden heart attack. On the morning of July 28, Kalam's body was transported to New Delhi via an Indian Air Force helicopter that had been carried from Shillong to Guwahati.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi attended an emergency meeting of the Union Council of Ministers called by the Indian Minister of Home Affairs after Kalam's passing. A plan to construct the "Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam National Memorial" was finalised during the conference. The Indian government suggested holding Kalam's funeral at Raj Ghat, also known as Ekta Sthal in New Delhi, and erecting a memorial there as well.
The Indian government granted the family's request to be buried in Kalam's hometown of Rameshwaram, despite the objections of Kalam's family. That same year, on October 15, Kalam's birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that work on a memorial at Rameshwaram had begun. On July 27, 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the memorial in honour of Kalam's second anniversary of death.
